Update/Instal issues.. - Chea - 03-09-2016

Hi Mental,

I'm having an issue with updating to 1.2.5.8 for some reason it won't install unllike all other updates in the past... I can normally figure these things out but this has got me stumped.

Here's the problem - I go the GM and check for updates and it shows 1.2.5.8 ready to be installed, I click install and it just sits there doing nothing (Yes I have "require secure updates" unchecked in GM options)

So I then removed 1.2.5.7 version and restarted FF (as I have done before when i've had issues updating) then came here to do a fresh install (being the latest 1.2.5.8) but when I click on the Install button (unlike in the past it opened up a new install tab) This time it just changed the page I was viewing to the script page (similar to the install tab previously but with no install feature)

So I thought... ok, so I right clicked and "view page source" selected all and saved to a text file - changed the file extension to .user.js then dragged to the address bar to install that way... all that got me was this:

So what i've now had to do is open up chrome and save the 1.2.5.7. script to disk - then drag that up to FF address bar, that installed fine so at least I have something of W.A.R. working.

But I can't figure out why it won't update to 1.2.5.8... any ideas ?

Sorry for the long post, just thought the more info the better for you Big Grin

Cheers for any assist you can give mate.

regards

Chea.

(p.s. running FF 45.0 if it helps any)

RE: Update/Instal issues.. - mental - 03-10-2016

some people have had problems installing scripts lately, it seems to be a problem with greasemonkey or firefox.

sometimes the install works sometimes it don't, I made a post about how to manually install the scripts.
http://usa.x10host.com/mybb/showthread.php?tid=72

I tested just now by removing w.a.r. then restarted my browser then clicked the install button and w.a.r. 1.2.5.8 installed for me.

If you can not get it installed from my site you can try greasyfork.org I also have my scripts there.

Thanks for the quick reply Mental,

Yep that first post fixed the update issue I was having... so all's good again. [Image: thumbsup.png]

Code:
http://usa.x10host.com/mybb/showthread.php?tid=72

Quote:If it goes to a text page you can install it buy saving the file then drag it in to a open browser window then it will ask to install. (while on the text page up in the top left corner click "file", then "save page as", save it then drag that file in to firefox window)

The "greasyfork" link could be useful also, didn't know you still updated that link.

Anyway cheers for the help mate, appreciated as always.

Mental,

On all links I try to install from it shows text.

My query is:

Are all uploads encoded as UTF-8?

Until things are working correctly again you can install the scripts manually http://usa.x10host.com/mybb/showthread.php?tid=72

the problem seems to be with greasemonkey looks like they know about the problem and we will have to wait for them to fix it.

RE: Update/Instal issues.. - mental - 03-11-2016

I uninstalled greasemonkey 3.7 and installed greasemonkey 3.8beta2 and the problem of not installing was fixed.
you can try the beta version or just keep manually installing the script until they release the stable version 3.8

you can get the beta version here
